SHORT RUN AND PRODUCTION PRINTING
When speaking about 'volume' of printing, most think of sample runs or very short runs due to the speed limitation previously hindering the ability to print at a reasonably fast speed, therefore costing a premium due to time/labor charges. The introduction of REGGIANI DREAM printing systems and other new technology equipment eliminates this previous handicap. Now full mill-quality production can be achieved as commissioned print for pay services, roll to roll and fully processed. Availability of the necessary expertise for proper product development is key, as well. Digital printing takes on many forms; it can be a confusing environment. Partnering with a consulting based service company can eliminate stumbling blocks by working through your program and assigning it to the correct printing environment to accomplish your goal.
Product Development: Introduce sufficient volume to accomplish initial sales goals before committing to off-shore higher volume. Ideal for launching new product categories requiring more than sample printing. Short run printing, as a starter, is ideal. Product Control: Is it a proven winner? Yes. During development stages, domestic printing is 'hands-on', allowing for changes to prints, colors, substrates and any aspect of the product before investing in expensive screens or committing to high volume overseas printing. Once you have perfected your intention or sold to your customer, you can move forward confidently. Eliminate Inventory: Print what you need. Re-print only what you need.If you aren't prepared to stock yardage, don't print it and don't end up stocking inventory not sold or "unusable" due to color or design changes. Speculation is an expensive way to manage your stock. Time-Cost Ratio: Although digital printing prices, due to high ink costs, are the poison pill, the introduction of high speed printing allows for more competitive pricing, enabling digital costs to offset overseas expenses and other factors critical in product management. The benefit of saving TIME printing domestically instead of overseas, is, in itself, a factor that can change the outcome of a project or in meeting a deadline.
SAMPLE AND DEVELOPMENT PRINTING
In most business models creating product lines incorporating printed textiles, the money pit is the front end; designing, developing color programs and sampling. Before the buyer or end user is satisfied, or before the product is purchased, the long time period from concept to actual product or presentation as 'real' , not mocked-up samples, can be the make or break of the season or the future of the business itself. Sample printing via domestic digital is considerably more expensive than off-shore preproduction printing. Why consider digital? Compare costs and time spent in a typical scenario. In this age of immediate need and later purchasing by corporate buyers not wishing to commit dollars until the last possible moment, being on-time is worth gold. Consider:
Testing & Development: When is that color combination ideal for your buyer or end user? Test it first - in 'real time', as it will actually be sold. Test as many colors as you wish, with no commitment to the final product. Make a sample, present it, change it - perfect it. Ready, Set - GO!: Are you presenting to your buyers/customers in record time? Is your competition? Being first and being ready can be a major upgrade in your business workflow. Seeing strike-offs or initial printing in a few days versus weeks can be that difference. No Inventory, Low Yardage: Print what's needed. Per yard costs may be somewhat higher with digital, but how costly is waiting weeks for yardage you end up not using? Are you "there" yet in terms of those commitments? Can you sit on yardage in anticipation of orders, especially for new products? Digital printing incorporates set 'formulas'. Print now and again later, colors will match. Change in mid-stream, rematch and go.
POST PROCESSING SERVICES ARE THE FINISHING TOUCH
The ability to fully process the printed fabric, as a strike-off, short sample run or full production run, is the key to completing the cycle of direct digital services. Previously, digital was primarily offered as "CAD" printing, not able to be permanent printing, or it has been limited to short cuts of 5 to 15 yards of fabric in order to be processed. Working on the basis of vertical facility printing, those limitations are eliminated. Program based printing is full service; development to completed project.
DOMESTIC SERVICES ARE ON THE RISE
Ok, now the fabric is printed, but you normally have your samples or production sewn overseas. How can you complete the cycle and stay domestic? A key contributor to the return of textile related services to the US and North America, Dream Fabric Printing works with a network of service companies in order to provide a finished product.
Dream Fabric Printing is proud to be a contributor to the re-establishment of domestic services in the textile related markets due to our ability to print and process short runs as well as volume production yardage. As this ability increases in North America, the return of finishing services will parallel this growth and bring back services reduced to a small handful of local factories. Domestics services, more competitive and flexible than before, are on the rise.
